On the day of a colleague's marriage (part-1)

The day was amazing. With that I can sumup the whole day. But it is not what the day deserves. The fun I had, the lessons I learned, the smiling faces I encountered, the care and concerned I felt deserve to be written at least as a novella.

It's Dec 4,2022 to increase its charm it was a Sunday. Not those ordinary sort of Sundays, spent in loathsome, monotonous routine, distinguished only by a biryani and a casual evening tea-talk with dad. It's one of our colleagues' wedding. It was at least a fortnight ago, I received the invitation. Since then I had been awaiting this big day even more than the bride and groom themselves, as the knot had to be tied between my colleague and our distant relative. That was a good opportunity to catch up both with my family and friends.

Having all that in mind, we started hatching plans well ahead of the day. The usually enthusiastic me turned more and more hyped as the number of people began to snowball.

The enthu doubled up when one of my colleagues suggested in a feeble tone, "What if we went to the theatre which was in the vicinity of the wedding hall?" It sounded great that the wedding plan drifted further to a plan for the weekend's gala time!

All that took place in our school mess (of course during lunch break). There might be thousands of posh restaurants with flashy menu cards and tempting displays providing mouthwatering foods but none of them can match the uniformly furnished, well lit and well ventilated mess. Where a lot of our anger, frustrations and a lot many unidentified emotions are vented out over a cup of tea or with the usual insipid lunch.

"Movie....?!", Swetha pouted disapprovingly. "Yeah... Why not? That will be funfilling... We shall empty someone's wallet too...", I winked looking sideways at Nayum bro.
"Jokes apart... Is that possible to get tickets on Sunday?", asked Preethi, (Madame.Know-all)
"Never mind. Shall arrange it. But what movie will be screened on that day?...", Kani bro dragged the conversation further.
"Whatever... I'm in.. I have my mind all set for the day... Wedding hall, theatre and seakings... Gala time!!!! Dot.", I tried to conclude.

And it's not always easy for a flake out to hatch plans like that. People are always skeptical about you. " You all set? Let's see if you come out of your house..", mocked Kani bro... But no offense. He was right after all. I had always been a flake out. First to plan and first to spoil the same. But this time I was determined not to miss out.

"Fine...fine... Enough of having fun you all... I am coming. At least to prove you people wrong.", I said  grimly that they said a terrified "Okay!!!" in unison. And I loved that. It always feels great to be mocked and then be pacified by these people. The sort of importance, concern, etc... it's a matchless feel.

"Okay if it's a movie staring Dhanush I too am in", Sophie changed the track visibly.

"I don't think there's any good movie hitting the screen on Sunday...", said Kani bro matter-of-factly. The conversation lasted as far us our plates were full and gradually fizzled out.( as always)

What next..
