On the day of a colleague's marriage (part-2)
Though the movie plan was halfway through, nobody seemed to bother about that. Days were elapsing and grew busier and busier. Revision exams, evening study duties, question paper settings, deputations, bla..bla..bla.. went our days, equally hectic. Of course except for those "sought after we-time" where we share topics in plenty, range from funny slips of the tongue to heartwarming classroom incidents.
Despite all these, I kept reminding people of "THE DAY" in one way or another. The discussions were multifarious— when to start, where to meet, what dress to be worn, what to bring,... But none of them could lead us to conclusion until Saturday evening.
Luckily on Saturday, Raksha—my senior colleague's daughter joined us in devising the plan. Despite being a little girl of grade-4, she was so determined in persuading us to sketch our plans and finalize. When a little girl came to us cajoling, we couldn't help but budged. Mr.Nayum was totally against the movie plan as it would be so sedentary and the children couldn't be managed. We agreed. Children are highly unpredictable. Nobody can say when they would throw tantrums and how to tackle them when they go berserk.
"So we shall go somewhere else where children can be immersed in activities and kept engaged", one of the colleagues chimed in wisely. Being residents of Trichy, each of us came up with some clichéd places that included Butterfly park, Kallanai, fish aquarium,... Everything was rejected as that was uttered.
"Oof!!! It's Shyni's birthday too. You people are not at all coming to conclusion. Finalize something know...", went on Raksha irritably. It made us all cringe our faces in annoyance. I left the mess as I had the next period, leaving their plans undisturbed.
Miraculously, when I entered the staffroom after that period, I could see Raksha dancing gleefully next to Kani bro. When enquired she said that the plan had been finalized thanks to my absence. "Oh okay, madame. Tell me what plan you people have sketched IN MY ABSENCE?", asked I, imitating her tone. For that she sulked and never answered.
