HAPPY TEACHERS'DAY 2K22

"Happy teachers' day, mam!!!" Every September-5 dawns with this cheerful note. It's high time that I wish all those lovely souls back a bit earlier and remind them of the good time spent together!!!

It is a six-year-long journey from an amateur instructor who fussed over everything to an even-tempered teacher who tries to embrace the challenges posed by the students.

It's been a journey of twists and turns. I have been noticed, listened to, loved, cared for, comforted, entertained and what not? Despite some momentary stress and occasional outbursts, it has always been a source of delight for me.

Right from the bus driver to the tiny little toddlers, everyone has impacted me immensely. 

The funloving (equally cringy) colleagues who give me numerous funky names and with whom I can share all the serious things over a cup of tea in the funniest way possible  (special mention to Mr.D, my audience and Mr.Nyaayam), the senior colleagues who counsel me or mock me whenever I feel low and cheer me up with their fake promises to buy me a falooda. When I look back now, I can only see those spotless smiles and feel a great sense of belonging.

Every moment right from the early morning bus journey, scorching assembly, most sort after tea break, the fun-filling yet troublesome Saturday evening orientations till the nagging journey back home is to be cherished.

And the most loveable part of it— the students. They never stop amazing me. A girl who taught me to play shuttle, a boy who challenged me to dunk the basketball in a single attempt, funloving TT players who motivated me to play table tennis and a champ who promised me to teach chess, the ardent students who read my write-ups and motivate me for more, the romping students who infuriate me, the students who come rushing in to ask me why I was on leave even if I am absent for a single day, etc., in all these, there is a tinge of love. You people adore me for what I am. You value my words (though you don't choose to follow them at times). 

With all these memories, I feel that I am indebted to thank you all and wish you all a HAPPY TEACHERS DAY!!!

    Getting to realize that someone looks up to you is one of the best feelings in the world Maha.. Thank you so much...I feel alive and responsible too.. you are one of the purest souls I've ever met in my life. Wishing nothing but the best for you...

 "You are never too old to try something new." , said someone.  True. Life keeps giving us opportunities to explore new things. It is up to us to make the best or worst out of them.  Last Monday was the first working day at school after two months of Summer break. Visiting mom's place after a while is a sheer privilege. As I had been away for more than half a year, I received nothing short of a royal treatment— Sweets, snacks, drinks and beverages were served in regular intervals,  as if it would be a sin to leave even an inch of my tummy empty. My dad and mom were so much into the task that my ever-elongating tummy went on a strike and put up an invisible "houseful" board. With that mind numbing feed, I couldn't help but battle with drowsiness. To stay awake,  I was combing through my shelf for some new stuffs. There was a book that  caught my attention. It  was kept precariously on top of my neatly arranged files and folders.  When I pulled it out, a bookmark fell down to my feet. Tuesday morning dawned as always with us rushing to the auditorium with notepads / laptops. As I barged in, I saw teachers clustered section wise to discuss how to go about practising for the Teachers' day program. While walking through various clusters, I happened to overhear the "Assam" team discussing rigorously on what to wear.  Back in our section, the discussion was rather heated. Amidst the chaos, I was called. "Maha, we are staging a dance. Come. Join us!", said the event coordinator. Before it could sink in, I was dragged to the rehearsal spot where a dozen more teachers had already been waiting. Being a newbie, I couldn't gather myself to say "NO". So, out of FOMO , I nodded my head, wishing badly to be rejected.  The other teachers in the room were filled with josh and vigour.
